Working with local partners in Benin, the Woord en Daad foundation provides training and support to promote domestic rice production. Many Beninese eat rice every day, and the country imports large quantities of this staple food from Asia. Several years ago, the government of Benin declared its intention to become less reliant on foreign countries and grow more rice domestically. But developing the rice sector in the West African country has been challenging. This initiative by the Woord en Daad foundation aims to help farmers and local rice processors get rice production off the ground in Benin.
