Although qualified solar panel installers are critical to the success of the energy transition, the solar industry, like many others, is facing a labour shortage. The Switch intends to address this issue by providing refugees in the Netherlands with training and employment opportunities. By installing solar panels as part of a team, they can earn a fair and stable income, expand their social networks and gain confidence, helping them make a new start in the Netherlands. Wouter, Tjebbe and Federico, the company’s founders, previously launched the successful social enterprise Hack your Future, which plays a similar role in the IT sector.
